improved seals and less dive under breaking, the only 2 faults i have with my forx
and angled air valve for the rear, the only problem i have with that, sweet!

about time they addressed the bushing problems.perhaps they will win back a few people like me who were well dissapointed in their durability.

They discontinued v-brake bosses, MORONS. I really love my XTR v-brakes!
about time they've stopped doing v-bosses!

Still no 20mm Bolt through 32mm fork option.
Missing out on the pike following there big style.

Mm, that's the one I'd like that doesn't exist ;-)

Hi Thinking of buying the new Trek Fuel EX 8 WSD shortly. I note that the Forks are the same as on the mens version. Fox Float 130 RL w/air. I only am only 7.5 stone and 5' tall. Are these forks at 130mm too much for me? Most other WSD bikes only seem to have 100mm travel forks. Rear Suspension has Fox Float RP2 w/Pro Pedal. Would you say these are agood choice Cheers Jackie

Jackie, not to much but it's easier to build a small frames bike with 100mm of travel, not saying it can't be done, so if the bike fits you and you like it, ride on.

As to the Fox Fork, i loved my Vannila RLC's they did well, felt great bushes where still fine after 4years of hard use. The improvements sound good, shame there is no 20mm axle option, not that I'm running that on the current bike.

Thanks Dyl I wondered about the frame size with 130's on. I'm struggling to find a FS small enough to stand over as it is. Seems WSD is a bit of a con really. So far most WSD bikes just shorten the top tube and narrow down the bars. I have very short legs but a longer than average body for my 5' so if a bikes going to fit it's got to be small!. The Fuel so far has the lowest Stand over of 27.9 with a 14.5" seat tube but as for the rest of the frame the geometry and parts are as the mans. I had hoped to find a womens FS made up of lighter less spoked wheels, shorter bars lighter forks etc. Not to much to worry about though I have been rinding my 14.5" Orange C-16R for 12 years and that wasn't a WSD bike.

Sinead, 5 foot 1 had the same problem with FSers, she looked at the same Trek, she had a bad day on the test ride so no idea what it was like for her sadly. Forget the WSD then for your body type. Spesh's normally come up small, FSR 130mm version ( new 1 out of soon, looks like a low top tube, similar design to the trek ), or the FSR XC which is the 100mm Version. Or a Orange 5 ( pricey ) they do 14inchers I believe Sinead was looking at them seem to have a low top tube. But thats all I can think of to try, Sinead stuck with a HT!!

Yes if you have short legs/long body, the geometry of a WSD bike is not going to suit you. Titus do some very small FS bikes, down to 13" frames, but they come at a price.
Would the Titus be a 130mm travel bike ?? 3K for a bike+ hmmm NO!!
Yep read about Titus and checked them out. Lots of info about angles and Womens bikes needing various tube angles etc then when you look at their frame geometry on their bikes they don't actually do what they say is needed. Just look at the 130 fork set up it's amost the same as the trek! Oh and very expensive for the componant spec etc. I think I'm almost asking for an impossible given what they have to fit between the top tube and head tube. If you look at the EX 14" it only manages a bottle cage on the underside of the head tube. Says a lot.
Can you tell me where Sinead test rode her Trek? It seems if you get a shop to order one in you have to have it. No one down here near Brighton stocks anything below a 15.5". Can't blame them there are not many deformed bike nuts about!
Rumour has it that the new Specialized has a completely different rear sus this year. I will do what you advice DYL and wait. Orange 5 worth a look too. I always end up paying more money for my bikes as nothing average fits, aahhhh
Her local LBS in Birmingham, can ask where if your local!! The new Spesh's will be out soon so shouldn't have to wait to long. Orange 5 being single pivot, still rides well and has less maintenance issues, than all the pivot points on the Trek, although the treks a better system you won't really notice much between the 2. Always fit some 24inch wheels to it, that'll drop the TT 1inch, sadly it'll drop the BB 1inch to
How about a 24" Kona, they do the Stinky and Stuff in those versions? 'cos my kids about your size... Also Scott do a 24" Scale type kids bike.
24" being the wheel size Jackie, just incase, and 24" makes for a harsher ride so wouldn't recomend it really unless your desperate.
Hi, No 24" isn't really an option. I have looked at the geometry of the Orange 5 Diva. Expensive but it's almost the same as my old Orange C-16R and at least Orange like and Titus have put some women freindly angles in not just changed the Top Tube and saddle like some.
I have decided to wait until the Bike show in October and go and grill a few manufactors and hopefully get to sit on some. Trek at least say they will be there with a small frame. Specialised too. Thanks evryone for your input. If anyone has an Orange 5 Diva I'd like to know what they think Cheers J

I know a Short lad who rides a Orange 5 normal, without a problem they look like BMX's anyways. Shame on the Price hey, paying for the made in britain.
I'd be tempted to look at small non-women specific bikes. Most of them assume proportionally longer legs and shorter upper bodies, so if you don't have those proportions then they're not going to suit. Good luck!
